Six Montanans Qualify for 2024 Wrangler NFR

A strong contingent of Montana cowboys and cowgirls will be competing at the 2024 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, set to take place in Las Vegas from December 5th to 14th.

Bareback Riding:

  • Weston Timberman (Columbus): Making his NFR debut, Timberman is currently 7th in the world standings.
  • Richmond Champion (Stevensville): A nine-time NFR qualifier, Champion secured his spot as the 15th ranked bareback rider.

Steer Wrestling:

  • Ty Erickson (Helena): A nine-time qualifier, Erickson is currently 10th in the world standings.
  • Jesse Brown (Oregon): A former Montana State standout, Brown qualified as the 6th ranked steer wrestler.

Saddle Bronc Riding:

  • Sage Newman (Melstone): A four-time qualifier, Newman is currently 10th in the world standings.
  • Haven Meged (Miles City): The 2019 world champion, Meged is currently second in the world standings for calf roping.

Barrel Racing:

  • Lisa Lockhart (Circle): An 18-time NFR qualifier, Lockhart is currently 6th in the world standings.

Breakaway Roping:

While breakaway roping is not yet an official NFR event, Montana’s Shelby Boisjoli-Meged (Miles City) currently leads the world standings.
